How Supra AI works

Supra AI is organized around the way legal work actually moves: local model control, global questions, matter workspaces, documents, case-law and public-records research, source-grounded answers, timekeeping, and drafts.

  1. Step 01

    Configure local models

    Assign separate local MLX models for legal reasoning, drafting, and critique, then load the runtime on device — model-backed work uses the model assigned to its role.

  2. Step 02

    Start in global chat

    Open to a fresh legal prompt set and type / to pull up the command palette — /legal, /research, /draft, /critique, /verify, /ask, each with a one-line description. Search runs across chat titles, message content, and ScratchPad notes, with a leading # for an exact tag match. Move a chat into a matter when it becomes case-specific.

  3. Step 03

    Open a matter

    Keep matter chats, research sessions, authorities, documents, structured outputs, timekeeping, and audit history in one workspace. Sort the sidebar by client, practice area, name, or date — or pin the matters you're working and drag your own order — and the matter form fills in known clients and practice areas as you type.

  4. Step 04

    Import documents

    Bring in matter files for OCR, extraction, chunking, local embedding search, cited Q&A, and fact chronologies — organized into nested folders, with new matters preloaded with a starter set matched to their practice area.

  5. Step 05

    Research case law and public records

    Run research as an auditable session: approve search queries, then record a keep-or-skip decision before a result enters your matter's authority library. Case law and federal dockets come from CourtListener; public records come from SEC EDGAR filings, the CFPB complaint database, and NLRB labor-case records. Public-record results are labeled as filings or allegations, not adjudicated findings.

    Review grounded answers

    Document questions search the most relevant passages first with a full-file pass one click away, and research answers ground in your saved authorities before reaching for CourtListener. Every [S#] and [A#] citation is clickable — sources open beside the chat at the supporting passage, and opinions open in a built-in reader with the cited holding highlighted.

  7. Step 07

    Capture your time in ScratchPad

    Jot the day's work as it happens in a running note, tagging each entry with @matter and #activity. ScratchPad proposes UTBMS-coded billing narratives grouped by evidence-reachable matter assignment. #Note entries and their attachments are excluded before model input; suggestions remain drafts until review and export.

  8. Step 08

    Draft, critique, or export

    Turn reviewed research and document context into attorney-edited drafts, critique passes, chronologies, and exportable work product. In a matter, the Draft button generates a downloadable Word document — a Florida Notice of Appearance or a demand letter today, with the signature block matched to the filing's court and your firm's letterhead, caption, and signature styling applied — to open, reveal in Finder, or save a copy of.
